Our Story
Accommodation Alpa has a long-standing tradition. It unfolds in the very heart of the picturesque mountain village of Josefův Důl, in the center of the Jizera Mountains. For many years, we have provided services and simple accommodations for visitors from all over the Czech Republic. People come to us to explore the beauty of this mountain area, and guests can relax actively or passively while staying with us. The harmonious atmosphere is complemented by the possibility of long walks along mountain trails. Overall, for over twenty years, we have offered our guests a unique experience of connection with nature, family atmosphere, and hospitality.
Well, how did our story begin? We started our life journey in the mountains with a family plan in Poděbrady, which we realized in the year 2002 with our whole family of four. It was and still is a demanding journey, but neither of us regrets the decision to this day. With determination, desire, and hard work, we have been gradually reconstructing the house for years, both for the needs of our guests and for the needs of our family. Thanks to Covid-19, we realized that the layout of the house can be pleasantly divided into a private and public part, and can be used wonderfully for socializing - for community experiences and experiences with new and old guests, as well as for our own projects and rest. We draw new strength and calm from the clean living environment of life in the mountains. We are blessed with high-quality drinking water, absolute peace for sleeping, the possibility to catch a glimpse of the stars in the sky at night, along with pristine nature. It's simply a fairytale. We strive to make every visitor feel at home with us. If guests are interested, we offer great tips for trips to the nearby and wider surroundings. Our returning guests already know that evenings can also be enjoyed with live music. After all, a piano is also available for active players in the saloon. That's actually how my husband and I met. It was in an amateur orchestra in Prague 8, where I played the violin as a high school girl and older years came to help. In between, my husband came up with the tuba. Since then, much has changed. We have two daughters, while still in Prague at that time. One now lives with her family near us and shares a similar way of life to ours. The other daughter actively takes care of the easy and user-friendly accessibility of information about us on the Internet. The hot news is the English version of our website. We are also preparing a YouTube channel for you, where we will post longer videos from our days in the mountains, which will be partially displayed on our website, but without slowing down their loading speed. For easy availability of videos on all our guests' devices.
And who knows how we came up with the name Alpa? Many of our regular guests already know, but for those of you who are planning to visit us for the first time, it is an abbreviation of the first two letters of our first names. So, it's not some drugstore ointment name for a sore knee. Although, it could happen during a mountain hike.
Our business is not only a source of livelihood for us but also a way of life. This family business, Alpa, allows us to work together, share common goals, and fulfill our dreams. We are proud of what we have achieved, and we do everything in our power to provide our guests with the best experiences and leave unforgettable memories with them.
